House removals in Chelsea

A house move in Chelsea starts from £449 for a one-bed flat and from £999 for a three-bed house, and most local moves are done in a day. That covers a free survey, a written price, our own crew and vans, and furniture taken apart and rebuilt. Fully insured, Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm.

House and flat removals across SW3 and SW10

Sal Removals moves homes and offices across Chelsea, in the SW3 and SW10 postcodes of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Our own crew and our own branded vans come out from our yard in Kingsbury, north-west London, and we work Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm. A local move usually takes a day: a one-bed flat is a morning for two movers, a three-bed house a full day for three.

Everything starts with a free survey, in person or over the phone for a smaller job. We look at what is going, how it comes out of the building and where it lands, and give you a fixed written price rather than an hourly guess that grows on the day.

What the price covers

A move includes wrapping, loading, transport and placing things in the right room at the other end. Beds, wardrobes, dining tables and flat-pack units are dismantled at the old address and put back together at the new one, with the fixings bagged and labelled by the crew that took them apart. Blankets, straps and trolleys come with the van as standard.

A one-bed flat is from £449, a two-bed from £699 and a three-bed house from £999. If the job is smaller than that, a man and van is from £69 an hour with one man and £80 with two, on a two-hour minimum, and it is often the cheaper answer for a studio or a single item.

Access, lifts and parking

Access decides how a Chelsea move runs, more than the number of bedrooms does. Tell us at the survey whether the building has a porter, a service lift or a goods entrance, what hours the block allows removals, and whether there is a bay, a yellow line or a resident permit space outside the door. Period conversions with a narrow staircase and a half-landing turn take longer than a lift, and the crew size follows that rather than the room count.

Kensington and Chelsea is a controlled parking borough, so where there is nowhere legal for a Luton van to stand we will tell you what the council currently charges to suspend a bay and how much notice it wants, and you apply through the borough’s own parking service. Fees and notice periods change, so we check the council’s page each time rather than repeat last year’s figure.

Packing, or not

If you would rather hand the packing over, full packing is from £199 for a one-bed, £299 for a two-bed and £399 for a three-bed house, and kitchen and fragile items only is from £99. If you are packing yourself, we drop boxes, tape and bubble wrap off before the move, priced per pack. Both are covered in packing service and materials, and the order to pack a house in is set out in our room by room packing guide.

When the dates do not line up

Chains slip, and a completion date that moves by a week is the usual reason people need storage. We load the flat, hold everything in storage and deliver when the keys are ready. Storage is containerised, from £20 + VAT a week per container, and you only pay for the containers you fill.

Clearing what you are not taking

Anything you are not taking to the new address can go on the same visit rather than become a second job. A single room, garage or loft cleared is from £149 and a whole three-bed house from £749, and a straight rubbish load starts at £69 for a single item. We are a registered waste carrier, number CBDU469343, so what we take is sorted for reuse and recycling and what is left goes to a licensed transfer station. Questions

Frequently asked questions

  • How long does a move in Chelsea take?

A one-bed flat is usually a morning for two movers, a three-bed house a full day for three. Stairs, a lift shared with other residents and a long carry from the door to the van are what stretch it, which is why the survey asks about access before it prices the job.

  • Can you move us on a Saturday or a Sunday?

Yes. We work Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm, and weekends book up first, so give us as much notice as you can. Blocks that only allow removals on weekdays are worth checking with the managing agent before you fix a date.

  • Do you move single items and small loads in Chelsea?

Yes. One man and a van is from £69 an hour and two men from £80, with a two-hour minimum, which suits a sofa bought at auction, a student room or a few boxes and one piece of furniture rather than a whole flat.

  • What happens if the lift is out of service on the day?

We carry. It costs time rather than the job, but it is worth telling us in advance if the lift is small, shared or booked by the block, because that decides how many movers turn up and how long the slot needs to be.

  • Are you insured, and what does that cover?

We are fully insured, and that covers the packing service as well as the move itself. The crew is our own professionally trained team rather than agency labour, so the people who survey the flat are the people who carry it.
