Rubbish and clearance collections across SW3 and SW10

We clear rubbish and unwanted contents across Chelsea for residents, landlords, letting agents and small businesses, in the SW3 and SW10 postcodes of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Our own crew comes out from our yard in Kingsbury, north-west London, and everything is carried out by hand: nothing has to be dragged to the pavement before we arrive.

Most jobs in Chelsea are one of three things. A single bulky item, usually a sofa, a mattress or a fridge that will not fit in a car. A part load after a refurbishment, a garden tidy or a garage that has quietly filled up. Or a full clearance, where a flat or a house has to be emptied for a sale, a new tenant or after a bereavement. We work Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm.

What we take away

Household furniture, beds and mattresses, white goods and electricals, garden waste, general bagged rubbish, office furniture and IT equipment, shop and office fit-out leftovers, and the contents of garages, cellars and lofts. If you are not sure whether something counts, describe it when you call and we will tell you straight away whether it is a job for us and what it changes about the price.

Loads are priced by volume, not by weight, so you pay for the space your rubbish takes in the van rather than for a guess at the tonnage. A single item starts at £69, a quarter load (about three cubic yards, roughly what fills a small hallway) at £109, and a full load of about twelve cubic yards at £329.

How a collection works

You call or send the form with a rough description, ideally a photograph or two. We give you a price and a slot, usually within a day or two, and often the same day if there is a van free. On the day the crew works room by room, loads the van, and sweeps the space before leaving. Payment is on completion and you get a waste transfer note for what we took.

Clearing a whole property

A full clearance is a different shape of job to a rubbish collection, and it is priced by the size of the property rather than by the load. A single room, garage or loft is from £149, a one-bed flat from £349, and a whole three-bed house from £749. Where a property is being sold or handed back, we take everything except the fixtures, so the agent gets an empty flat rather than a pile in the hallway. Our house clearance service explains the whole process, and waste removal covers the smaller loads.

If the property is being emptied because someone is moving rather than leaving, it is often cheaper to do both on one visit. We can move what you are keeping and clear what you are not on the same day, which is what most people booking removals in Chelsea end up doing.

Access and parking

Kensington and Chelsea is a heavily controlled borough for parking and a lot of Chelsea housing is flats in period blocks, so access is worth settling before the day rather than on it. Tell us at booking whether there is a bay or a yellow line outside, whether the building has a porter, a service lift or a goods entrance, and what times the block allows removals and deliveries. Where a bay has to be suspended, we will tell you what the council currently charges and how much notice it wants, and you apply through the borough’s own parking service. Fees and notice periods change, so we check them against the council’s page rather than quoting last year’s figures.

Stairs, basements and lifts that are out of service all change how long a load takes, which is why the price follows a description of the access rather than just a list of items.

Where it goes after it leaves you

We are a registered waste carrier, number CBDU469343, listed on the Environment Agency’s public register. What we take is sorted rather than tipped: furniture and appliances that are still usable go for reuse, metal, wood, cardboard and green waste are separated for recycling, and what is genuinely left goes to a licensed transfer station for disposal. Everything we load is covered by a waste transfer note, which is the paperwork that proves your rubbish was handled properly.

Household recycling centres are for residents’ own waste and refuse anything brought in by a contractor, so if you would rather do a small load yourself, check what your council’s centre accepts and take it in your own vehicle.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I have to be there when you collect?

No, as long as we can get in and we know exactly what is going. Plenty of landlords and agents leave a key or brief a porter, and we send photographs of the empty room and the waste transfer note afterwards so you can see what left the building.

  • Can you collect a single mattress or sofa on its own?

Yes. One item is from £69, and that includes carrying it down from the flat rather than leaving you to drag it to the kerb. Mattresses and upholstered furniture go to a licensed facility, not a household recycling centre.

  • Can you come at short notice?

Often yes, including same day if we have a van free. We work Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm, so an end of tenancy or a completion date that has moved is worth a call rather than an assumption.

  • What proof do I get that the waste was disposed of properly?

A waste transfer note, which is the document that shows a registered carrier took your waste and where it went. Our registration number is CBDU469343 and it is on the Environment Agency's public register.

  • Do you clear offices and shops as well as homes?

Yes. Office furniture, old IT equipment, shop fittings and the clear-out at the end of a lease are all the same job to us, and we can work evenings or weekends so a business is not disrupted during trading hours.
