Sal Removals moves flats, houses and small offices in Covent Garden, working from our own yard in Kingsbury, north-west London, with our own professionally trained crew and our own branded vans. We are out Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm.

The jobs here are usually flats and small commercial spaces rather than large houses, and the difficulty is rarely the volume. It is getting a Luton van close enough to the door, and getting the load down whatever stairs stand between the flat and the street. Both are settled at the survey, which is free and produces a fixed written price.

Prices

A studio is from £249, a one-bed flat from £449, a two-bed from £699 and a three-bed from £999. A small office move is from £240 for up to ten desks and from £2,300 for ten to thirty. For a part load or a single item, a man and van is from £69 an hour with one man and £80 with two, two-hour minimum.

Access, loading and timing

Before we quote we want to know where the van can legally stop and whether that stretch has a timed loading restriction, whether the entrance is shared with a business and when it opens, how many flights there are and whether the staircase turns, and whether there is a lift and who books it. Where a building sets hours for removals, the slot is planned to fit them.

If there is nowhere legal to load at all, the council can suspend a bay or issue a dispensation for one named vehicle. Those fees and notice periods are set by the borough and change, so we check the current ones for the street at the time you book rather than repeating a figure from a previous job.

Packing and materials

Full packing is from £199 for a one-bed, £299 for a two-bed and £399 for a three-bed, or from £99 for the kitchen and fragile items only. Furniture is wrapped in the flat rather than on the pavement, glass and artwork travel upright and padded, and boxes are labelled by room so nothing has to be opened to find out where it goes. Packing yourself is fine too: boxes, tape and bubble wrap are delivered beforehand and priced per pack.

Storage between dates

Where the new place is not ready, we load, hold everything in storage and deliver when your keys are. Storage is containerised, from £20 + VAT a week per container, and you only pay for the containers you fill.

Clearing what you are not taking

Furniture, old office equipment or a flat’s worth of contents can be cleared on the same visit. A single room, garage or loft is from £149, a one-bed flat from £349 and a whole three-bed property from £749, and a straight rubbish load starts at £69 for one item. We are a registered waste carrier, number CBDL469340, so what we take is sorted for reuse and recycling and only the rest goes to a licensed transfer station.

What a typical job looks like

Two shapes come up most often. A one-bed flat above a shop or in a converted upper floor: typically two movers and one Luton van, the furniture wrapped indoors, the bed and any flat-pack taken apart, and the whole load away inside three or four hours once the van is in position. And a small office of eight or ten desks moved over a weekend: screens, docks and cables boxed and labelled by desk on the Saturday, in and rebuilt on the Sunday, so nobody loses a working day.
