House and flat removals around Alexandra Palace

Sal Removals moves homes and offices around Alexandra Palace, with our own professionally trained crew and our own branded vans working from our yard in Kingsbury, north-west London. We are out Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm, and most local moves are done inside the day: a morning for a one-bed flat with two movers, a full day for a three-bed house with three.

The survey is free and it comes before any price. It covers what is going, the access at both ends, what has to be dismantled and how much packing you want done, and it ends with a fixed figure in writing.

What it costs

A studio is from £249, a one-bed flat from £449, a two-bed from £699, a three-bed house from £999 and a four-bed from £1,399, for a local move without packing. Anything smaller is priced as a man and van, from £69 an hour with one man and £80 with two, two-hour minimum, and a half day with two men is from £320.

Access, stairs and parking

Access is what stretches a moving day, not the number of bedrooms. Steps up from the pavement, a staircase that turns at a half-landing, a loft conversion with a narrow last flight, a flat with a lift that other residents also want: all of these change the crew size and the length of the slot, and all of them are better known at the survey than discovered at 8am.

Where there are marked bays or yellow lines outside, the council can suspend a bay or grant a dispensation for one named vehicle. The fee and the notice period belong to the borough and change, so we check the current ones for your road when you book and say which route is cheaper for a single van.

Packing and materials

Full packing is from £199 for a one-bed, £299 for a two-bed and £399 for a three-bed house, or from £99 for the kitchen and fragile items only. Everything is labelled by room as it is packed. If you are packing yourself, we drop boxes, tape and bubble wrap off beforehand, priced per pack, and take back what you do not use.

Storage between dates

If the new place is not ready, we load, hold everything in storage and deliver when your keys arrive. Storage is containerised, from £20 + VAT a week per container, and you only pay for the containers you fill.

Clearing what you are not taking

Furniture that is not going to the new address can go on the same visit. A single room, garage or loft is from £149, a one-bed flat from £349 and a whole three-bed house from £749, and a straight waste load runs from £69 for one item to £329 for a full van. We are a registered waste carrier, number CBDU469343: what can be reused or recycled is separated out and only the remainder goes to a licensed transfer station. Our house clearance page covers a full property.

What a typical job looks like

The two we see most are a Victorian upper-floor flat, usually two movers and one Luton, with the wardrobe and bed frame taken apart to clear the turn on the stairs, and a family house where the loft and the garage are half the volume. The second is the one people underestimate, so the survey counts the loft as a room and prices it as one rather than leaving it to the last hour of the day.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

  • Can you move us on a hill or a road with steps up to the door?

Yes, and it is worth mentioning at the survey. Steps up from the pavement and a steep approach change how a heavy piece is handled and how many movers are sensible, which is better decided a week ahead than on the doorstep.

  • Do you do part loads into storage?

Yes. Plenty of moves here are half into the new place and half into a unit while a loft or an extension is finished. Tell us the split at the survey and the van is loaded in the right order.

  • How many boxes will I need?

A one-bed flat is usually 25 to 40 boxes, a three-bed house 80 or more with wardrobe boxes on top. We deliver them before the move and take back what you do not use, so it is better to over-order than run out on the last evening.

  • Do you work bank holidays?

We work Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm, and bank holiday dates are available but book up early because completions cluster around them. The earlier the date is confirmed with us the better the choice of slot.

  • What if something does not fit through the door?

It comes apart, or it goes out another way. The survey is where we spot the sofa that came in before the new door frame did, and we will say then whether it needs dismantling, a window route or leaving behind.
