What storage costs in North London

Storage is priced per container: from £20 + VAT a week each. A container is a sealed wooden unit with about 35 square feet of floor and 250 cubic feet inside, which is roughly one well-packed room. A studio or one-bed flat usually takes one or two, a three-bed house three or four. We count the containers before you commit, so the weekly figure is known up front, and you never pay for space you are not using.

Storage that comes to your door

With a self storage room you hire a van, do the lifting, drive there and stack it yourself. With us you make one phone call.

• We collect. Our own crew comes to your address in our own branded vans, wraps the furniture in blankets and dismantles what will not travel whole.
• We load. Everything goes into wooden containers, stacked so each one is used top to bottom, and each container is closed and sealed.
• We store. The sealed containers are kept indoors until you want them.
• We bring it back. Tell us the date and the same crew delivers, unwraps and reassembles at the new address.

If you empty two of four containers, you pay for two from then on. A self storage room costs the same half empty as it did full.

How it works

1. Tell us what you have. A room count or a rough box count is enough for us to estimate the containers over the phone. If it is a whole house, we do a free survey.
2. Written price. One weekly figure for the containers, plus the collection, so you can compare it with a storage chain before you decide.
3. Collection. Our own team wraps, dismantles and loads at your address, then packs the containers.
4. Sealed and stored. Each container is closed and sealed, and stays that way until you ask for it.
5. Out again. Call ahead for one box, one container or the whole lot going onto a van to your new address.

Packing for storage is slightly different from packing for a move. Use uniform boxes so they stack square, label two sides so the label can be read without unstacking, and tell the crew what you might need first so it goes in last. Moving and storing with one company

The usual storage problem in a move is the gap between completion dates. If a separate firm stores your things, your belongings get handled twice: once by the movers into a van, once by you into a unit.

We do both, so it is one handling, one insurance policy and one point of contact. Your things come off our van straight into containers, and back onto our van when your new place is ready. What a chain gap looks like

A three-bed house in Edgware sells before the onward purchase in Finchley completes, with six weeks between the two dates. Our team packs and loads on completion day and fills three containers, from £60 + VAT a week. The family lives with relatives in the meantime and asks for a cot and a box of school uniform, each time arranged the day before. On the second completion date the same crew loads the containers back onto the van and delivers to Finchley. Two handlings by the same people, one invoice for the storage, one for the two moves.
