Removals in Edgware, from a crew based ten minutes away

Sal Removals is at 19 Uphill Drive, London NW9 0BU, in Kingsbury. Edgware is the next stop up the A5, which means the survey is easy to fit in, the van is never coming from the other side of London, and if something changes on the day we can be with you quickly. We do house and flat removals, office removals, man and van jobs, packing, storage and house clearance across HA8, from Burnt Oak Broadway up to Edgwarebury and across to the Canons Park side, with our own professionally trained team and our own branded vans.

Parking in Edgware: two councils, two sets of rules

Edgware sits mostly in the London Borough of Barnet, but the streets west of the A5 towards Canons Park are in Harrow, and a small corner is Brent. That matters because the parking process on move day depends on which side of the line you are on, and we check the exact street before quoting.

Barnet side (most of HA8, Burnt Oak, Edgwarebury). The controlled zones cluster round Edgware station and Station Road, and Burnt Oak is zoned; the outer residential streets are mostly free, and there is a per-road checker at barnet.traffweb.app. Where a suspension is needed, Barnet lists removals as a valid reason and charges £69.63 per 5 m bay per day plus a non-refundable £171.39 admin fee, with at least 7 calendar days notice, at the time of writing. If the van will fit in a bay, a parking dispensation (one named vehicle on a yellow line, “moving home” is the council’s own example) is £51.90 per vehicle per day with 2 working days notice, and we recommend that route wherever it works.

Harrow side (west of the A5). Harrow prices a bay suspension by area, £37 per day in Central zones, £23 in District and £11.50 in Local, plus an admin fee that rises the later you apply: £60 with more than 10 working days notice, £120 at 3 to 10 days, £178 under 3 days. Applications go by email and can take up to ten working days to process. A single yellow line dispensation in a CPZ, with removals listed, runs £8.50 to £39 a day by area.

Either way we apply on your behalf, price it into the written quote, and tell you which route we have chosen and why.

The houses we move in Edgware

Most of Edgware is 1930s Metroland: semis and short terraces off the A5 with a drive at the front, a narrow side return and a loft that has usually been filled over thirty years. Those are straightforward two-mover jobs with one Luton, and the drive means no suspension. The interwar purpose-built flats along the A5 and off Station Road are different: no lift, a tight communal stair, and a road that is usually controlled, so the parking is the first thing we sort. The new blocks by Edgware station and along Burnt Oak Broadway have lifts and loading bays but managed access, so we book the lift with the concierge before the day. Up on Edgwarebury Lane and beyond it the houses are large and detached, and a four-bed move there is typically three to four movers with a lorry and a Luton over one long day.

Three typical Edgware jobs

A two-bed flat above the shops on Station Road. Controlled parking, so we applied to Barnet for a dispensation two working days ahead rather than a full suspension, saving the customer the £171.39 admin fee. Two movers, one Luton, a second-floor walk-up, packed and loaded by lunchtime and unloaded into a Metroland semi in Mill Hill the same afternoon.

A three-bed semi off Burnt Oak Broadway, moving to Harrow. Loft cleared the week before as a separate man and van job, then the main move: three movers, two Lutons, wardrobes and beds dismantled and rebuilt at the other end. The Harrow street was in a Local zone, so the suspension cost £11.50 a day plus admin.

A ten-desk office near the Broadwalk Centre. Moved on a Friday evening after close: desks labelled, IT disconnected, transported and reconnected, old furniture cleared under our registered waste carrier status, everything tested before the team left. The business opened as normal on Monday.

Why people in Edgware book us

Checkatrade member. Fully insured. Our crew is our own team, not agency labour, and the vans are ours, so the people who survey your house are the people who move it.

Services in Edgware

We also cover Kingsbury, Harrow and Barnet from the same base. If you are moving into Edgware from further out, our moving house checklist covers the admin most people forget until the week after the move.

Recycling before the move

Barnet residents can take a car load to Summers Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre, Porters Lane, North Finchley N12 0RF, daily 9am to 4pm, about five miles east of Edgware. Vans need a booking 24 hours ahead with proof of residency and there is no trade waste, so anything we clear for you goes to a licensed transfer station instead.

Call 020 3475 0377, Monday to Sunday 8am to 8pm, or request a free quote and we will survey your Edgware move this week.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

  • How much does a removal in Edgware cost?

From £449 for a one-bed flat, £699 for a two-bed and £999 for a three-bed house, removals only, local move. A four-bed house starts from £1,399. Packing is extra, from £199 for a one-bed. Every job is priced individually after a free survey, so these are starting points.

  • Do I need a parking suspension for a removal van in Edgware?

Only on a controlled street. Round Edgware station and Station Road, and across Burnt Oak, the answer is usually yes. Barnet charges £69.63 per bay per day plus a £171.39 admin fee and wants 7 calendar days notice, at the time of writing. A single-vehicle dispensation at £51.90 a day is the cheaper route if the van fits a bay.

  • How much do office removals in Edgware cost?

From £240 for an office of up to 10 desks, from £2,300 for 10 to 30 desks and from £4,700 for 30 to 60. Larger or multi-floor offices need a survey. We move offices in the evening or over a weekend so the business loses no trading day, and we disconnect and reconnect the IT.

  • Which parts of Edgware do you cover?

All of HA8, including Burnt Oak, Edgwarebury and the Canons Park side, plus neighbouring NW7 Mill Hill and NW9 Colindale. Our base is on Uphill Drive in Kingsbury, about ten minutes down the A5, so Edgware is one of our closest areas rather than an outer postcode.

  • Can you store furniture between an Edgware sale and completion?

Yes. Storage is containerised, from £20 + VAT a week per container. We collect, store and redeliver on your completion date.

  • How far ahead should I book an Edgware move?

Two to three weeks is comfortable. If your street is controlled, the Barnet suspension alone needs 7 calendar days and a Harrow suspension needs more than 10 working days for the cheapest admin rate, so the parking, not the van, sets the earliest date.
