Removals in Knightsbridge

Sal Removals moves flats, houses and offices in Knightsbridge, with our own professionally trained crew and our own branded vans working out of our yard in Kingsbury, north-west London. We are out Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm, and a local move is usually a single day: a morning for a one-bed flat with two movers, a full day for a three-bed house with three.

Nothing is priced without a look first. The survey is free and it settles what is going, how it comes out, what needs taking apart and what needs packing, and you get a fixed written price rather than an hourly rate that depends on how the day goes.

What it costs

A studio is from £249, a one-bed flat from £449, a two-bed from £699, a three-bed house from £999 and a four-bed from £1,399. A smaller job, a part load or a single piece of furniture is a man and van at £69 an hour with one man or £80 with two, two hours minimum, with the same wrapping and the same crew as a full move.

Access, lifts and the loading window

In this part of London the building usually sets the shape of the day more than the contents do. Before we quote we want to know whether there is a lift and whether it must be booked and padded, whether there is a porter or a managing agent with rules about removal hours, whether the goods entrance is separate from the front door, and how far a Luton van can get from the entrance.

Where there is no legal place for the van to wait, a bay suspension or a dispensation is applied for through the council. The fees and the notice period are set by the borough and revised regularly, so we check the current figure for your street at the time you book and tell you which route is cheaper for one van.

Packing, wrapping and protection

Full packing is from £199 for a one-bed, £299 for a two-bed and £399 for a three-bed house, and kitchen and fragile items only is from £99. Glass, mirrors, artwork and screens are wrapped individually and travel upright and padded. Furniture is blanket-wrapped in the room it stands in, not on the pavement. Boxes are labelled by room so unloading is not a guessing game, and we collect the empties afterwards.

If you want to pack yourself, boxes, tape and bubble wrap are delivered beforehand and priced per pack.

Storage between dates

Chains slip and completion dates move. When they do, we load, hold everything in storage and deliver when the keys are ready. Storage is containerised, from £20 + VAT a week per container, and you only pay for the containers you fill.

Clearing and disposal

Anything not going to the new address can be taken on the same visit. A single room, garage or loft cleared is from £149, a one-bed flat from £349 and a whole three-bed house from £749. A straight rubbish load is from £69 for one item up to £329 for a full van. We are a registered waste carrier, number CBDL469340, so what can be reused or recycled is separated and only the remainder goes to a licensed transfer station.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

  • Can a move be done outside normal hours?

Yes. We work Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm, which covers most building rules about when removals are allowed. If your block only permits them early or late in the day, say so at the survey and the slot is planned around it.

  • What happens to the empty boxes afterwards?

We take them away. Packing paper, boxes and wrap can be collected once you have unpacked, which saves a flat full of flattened cardboard and keeps the recycling out of a communal bin store.

  • Do you move single high-value items?

Yes. A single piece, a delivery from an auction house or one room's worth of furniture is priced as a man and van, from £69 an hour with one man and £80 with two, with a two-hour minimum and the same wrapping as a full move.

  • How do you protect floors and communal areas?

Doorways and banisters are padded where they need it, and the crew works in one route in and out so nothing is carried through rooms that are not part of the job. Lifts are padded if the building requires it.

  • What if the new property is not ready on the day?

We store it. Everything goes from the van into sealed storage containers, from £20 + VAT a week per container, and the same crew brings it out when your dates line up.
